The Fezouata deposits, near the Moroccan city of Zagora, provide a rich sample of fauna similar, although later in time, to the famous Burgess Formation (Canada). We are talking about fossils between 480 and 472 million years old. The age indicates that Burgess-type communities were not limited, as was believed, to the first stages of the Cambrian and then suddenly disappeared, but rather they survived much longer, subsequently coexisting with marine fauna, which would be typical of the deep sea around the world. At that time, Morocco was an ocean and was located at the South Pole.
