Palaeolagus hemimandible.

Palaeolagus "Ancient hare" is an extinct genus of lagomorph mammal. This animal, approximately 25 centimeters in length, closely resembled modern rabbits. However, their hind limbs were shorter than those of their modern relatives, suggesting that they were probably incapable of jumping, and were instead able to move by crawling in a manner similar to a ground squirrel. They were common herbivores inhabiting the savannas, plains, and forests in North America 30 million years ago.
