Deinotherium is an extinct genus of proboscidean belonging to the family Deinotheriidae. Deinotherium resembled modern elephants, except that its trunk was not as long and it had a pair of downturned tusks in its lower jaw.
This animal has been the second largest land mammal, only surpassed by Paraceratherium.
