Euclastes was a coastal chelonid with a durophagous diet (mainly including hard foods such as snails, mollusks, shells and other foods that require great chewing force to ingest). It is estimated that they were not as adapted to marine swimming and their distribution was more restricted than that of current turtles, which are found throughout the world: judging by the bony anatomy of their limbs, they probably could not yet cross the high seas because their shorter oars were not as long or rigid (and their shell was not as hydrodynamic) as in the true marine forms, which swim more efficiently and for longer, thanks to a synchronized movement of the forelimbs.
