Trochocystites belongs to the class Homostelea, extinct class of echinoderms that include a single order, the cinctos (Cinta).​

They have a racket-shaped, slightly asymmetrical body, made up of two main parts:

  • teak: consists of a marginal rim of large and elongated plates (cinctus) that surrounded a central area composed of numerous smaller plates.
  • Aulacophore: flattened appendage, Simple in structure, it is not divided into sections and appears to have been quite rigid.
