Discosauriscids are known exclusively from larval or neotenic forms (La neoteny (from Greek neo-, 'young', and teinein, 'extend') is a process that is characterized by the conservation of juvenile characters in the adult organism).
Discosauriscus was an amphibian, although it is sometimes classified as a seimouriamorph (a group of reptile-like amphibians). It had characteristics similar to those of a salamander, such as short legs and large eyes.
