The Eocrinoids appeared in the Early Cambrian and became extinct at the end of the Ordovician. They are composed of a calyx, a crown of appendages and a peduncle; From the calyx, formed by perforated plates and communicated by a complex system of respiratory pores, quite long and unbranched appendages (brachioles) develop in the upper part. These appendages were responsible for capturing the food and bringing it to the mouth, in a central position.
