Placosmilia It is a genus of hard corals (order Scleractinia) belonging to the class Anthozoa (Anthozoans: polyp form). It is characterized by being a solitary coral, cylindrical morphology, apex slightly curved and with transverse grooves. It belongs to the subclass Hexacorallia, characterized by having polyps with tentacles and internal septa in numbers of six or multiples of six.
