Scyphocrinites was a non-sessile, free-swimming crinoid. It had a lobolith or float, divided into chambers, this structure facilitated the movement of the animal, thus contributing to its great geographical extension. From the lobolith starts a long cylindrical stem crossed by a canaliculi with a pentagonal section, and at its end a pyriform calyx develops, formed by a large number of plates, the surface of which has a radial ornamentation. Two arms of the same size grow on each ray and branch several times dichotomously.
