Stromerichthys is an extinct genus of freshwater bony fish that lived during the Late Cretaceous, which belong to the Polypteridae family.

The polypterids Commonly known as bichires, they are a family of very primitive-looking actinopterygian fish. All current species are confined to the waters of rivers and lakes in Africa.

They have an elongated or anguiliform body, covered with small flakes with ganoin. The caudal fin is symmetrical, the pectoral fins have a lobed base, while the dorsal fin is divided into several fins formed by a spiny ray that supports a small membrane.
