A unifacial (one-sided) chopping tool or worked edge is the oldest stone tool, characteristic of the Lower Paleolithic.
The evolution of this tool is characterized by a transformation of the angle of the carved edge, which becomes increasingly sharper, and an increase in the length of the edge, thus the trend would be a maximum use of the possibilities of the edge.
