The decapods (Decapoda, from the Greek δέκα déka, 'ten' and πούς, podós, 'foot') are an order of crustaceans within the class Malacostraca.

Decapods have ten legs; They are the last five of the eight pairs of thoracic appendages characteristic of crustaceans. The first three pairs function as mouthparts, called maxillipeds. In many decapods, however, one pair of legs has elongated pincers; the pincer is called a chela, so those legs can be called chelicerae. Other appendages are found in the pleon or abdomen, where each segment has a pair of biramous pleopods, of which the last ones are part of the tail (along with the telson) and are called uropods.
