600 million years ago, animal evolution demonstrated an incomparable explosion of creativity, this event is known as the Cambrian Explosion. The Cambrian Explosion is characterized by the sudden and simultaneous appearance of many diverse animal forms.
The fossil fauna of Chengjiang from the early Cambrian period, discovered in 1984 52 km southeast of Kunming (South China), is only comparable to the fauna of the Burgess Shale (British Columbia) for its excellent preservation.
