This leaf belongs to an old collection, which together with the rest of the specimens, represents a complete collection of Manosque flora.

The fossil flora of Manosque pIt appears to have originated from a large subtropical lake with water lilies and lotus plants, bordered by banks with ferns, reeds, etc. In the surrounding forests there were laurels, some palm trees and many other subtropical trees. In addition, oaks, birches, beeches and other trees that needed a somewhat more moderate climate grew, perhaps on the slopes of the mountains. In autumn and winter, storms tore up leaves that fell into the water and were transported to the lake where they became embedded in the mud.
