The Istiophoridae Family is made up of pelagic fish, which live at a maximum preferential depth of 200 meters, their diet varies from plankton to fish.

This is a pharyngeal jaw of a bony fish. The pharyngeal jaws are a second pair of jaws found in the pharynx of some fish, and are clearly distinguished from the primary or oral jaws. They are believed to have originated as modified pharyngeal arches.
