Palmoxylon It belongs to the Arecaceae (palm) family, and has a slender, unbranched trunk that remains almost the same thickness from the base to the apex and is crowned by a rosette of large leaves.
Palmoxylon It is a monocotyledonous plant that, unlike trees, does not generate growth rings or layers in the trunk, the thickness of the stem increases with age, due to the extension of the primary tissue; Its root is superficial and fibrous with little branching, which grows like the stem.
This piece is a cross section of the trunk in which you can clearly see the sections of the vessel bundles. The color gradations do not correspond to specific parts of the log structure, but are simply dissolution reactions that occur during silicification.
