240 millions years ago arose a great number that divided to Pangea in two continents: to the Laurasia north, that included North America, Greenland and Eurasia;to the south Gondwana, formed by South America, Africa, the Antártida, the Australian Continent and India.

Glossopteris is an exclusive fossil of the Gondwana continent, that in most of the cases, only usually is the leaves, whole that presents reticular ribbing with a central nerve developed clearly and they were united to the end of the trunk having formed a dense short plume with peciolo.
